The 348 TS comes with a multitude of new technologies gained from experiences with the series 308 to 328. Introduced in the summer of 1989 it replaced the 308 GTS and 328 GTS. In contrast to its predecessors, this vehicle has a self-supporting body. The sillboards are painted black and there are some elements of the Testarossa: the front part, the ridges at the side and plates in front of the taillights.
The name 348 is derived from 3.4l displacement and 8 cylinders, T stands for transversal transmission. Central locking, leather seats, electric windows, ABS and 5 gears belong to the standard.
The 348 series was supposed to be Ferrari's volume model in the 90s, since 2500 exemplars per year were planned. As estimated it was an extremely fast car with all the energy and passion that is characteristic for Ferrari.
