Jedburgh is a truly old Scottish town. It really radiates true antiquity. In Jedburgh there are still many old buildings, under which the church and Abbey. The abbey of Jedburgh founded in 1118 by King David the 1st was the fourth biggest abbey at the Scottish English border.
The abbey is standing there now as a ruin. The beautiful rose garden is still as alive as ever. The centre of Jedburgh has many pubs and restaurants. If you have the urge to cook, then there are modern supermarkets in the neighbourhood.
In spring and summer the entire town has festivals and activities. When it is school holidays, then a big rugby competition starts.
In the summer there is a big Jazz & Blues festival in the centre and in the known 14 day festival of Callant.
Jedburgh is precisely in the middle. In the north you will find Edinburgh (70km), in the east Holy Island, south Hadrian's Wall and the west St Mary's Loch.
