Gillenfeld is in the heart of the Volcano Eiffel, situated close to the "Pulvermaar", the deepest Crater Lake north of the Alps. Here you can swim and there are diverse activities possible.

Gillenfeld with its 1.600 inhabitants is located directly along the Maare-Moezel-cycling route, which runs from the region capital city Daun up to the Moezel. In Daun is the "Forum Daun" situated where diverse concerts, theatre and cabaret performances takes place. Here is a big offer of restaurants with a wonderful regional kitchen, café's and typical German "Biergärten".

for mountain bike lovers there are excellent possibilities in the Eiffel. Besides, each year the "Vulkanbike-Eifel-Marathon" is organised by the Daun community (begin September).

Then you can visit one of the cities Cochem, Trier or Koblenz as well, which is easily reachable from Gillenfeld.
