Hazel grew up in a musical family, singing her first solo when she was just four in a Christmas carol service. She briefly studied the piano and guitar, but decided to specialise and develop her singing career. During her teenage years she sang solo, and in small groups enjoying a wide range of styles – from ballads, blues, gospel and then found her niche singing jazz classics. In 1996 whilst singing in musicals she was invited, by professional pianist and Musical Director Gary Preston to promote her solo singing career.

In 2000 she was featured on Campbell Burnap’s Jazz FM show, who said “… Hazel has a pleasantly cool approach and easy phrasing…”. More recently with Gary Preston, Hazel enjoyed a sixth month contract singing at a popular restaurant venue. She is also lead singer with a band who perform their own songs, many of which Hazel co-writes.

Hazel excels, by engaging the audience with the intimate warmth of her voice, the variety of tone and the exceptional sense of rhythm. She brings a new dimension when interpreting the jazz classics and other popular songs.
